FARO laser scanning is a project workflow, not a product specification.
We use current manufacturer information to plan responsibly, then define the field method, control, review, and output around the actual site and decision.

ANSWER
What is the FARO Focus platform?
FARO Focus is a family of terrestrial laser scanners used to capture spatial measurements and imagery from multiple positions. The scanner is one part of a larger workflow that can include field registration, office processing, cloud collaboration, control, review, and export.

Published specifications
Range is a planning input. It is not a deliverable guarantee.
| Current platform | Published maximum range | Published ranging accuracy | Practical planning role |
|---|---|---|---|
| Focus Premium Max | Up to 400 m | Up to 2 mm | Longer stand-off conditions and large exterior or industrial environments, subject to visibility and surface behavior. |
| Focus Premium | Up to 200 m | Up to 2 mm | Broad building, industrial, infrastructure, and existing-condition work. |
| Focus Core | Up to 100 m | Up to 2 mm | Interior and shorter-range documentation where the project use fits the platform. |
Source and boundary: model names, maximum ranges, and accuracy values are from FARO’s current Focus Laser Scanner product page. FARO qualifies these values by its stated test conditions. Field spacing, surface reflectivity, atmosphere, incidence angle, movement, registration, control, and processing all affect project results.

Distinct workflow roles
Capture, feedback, processing, and collaboration are separate jobs.
Focus capture
Records the scene from planned scan positions. Coverage, occlusion, movement, color, and field notes still require active management.
FARO Stream
Supports field capture and real-time pre-registration feedback on compatible workflows. That feedback helps field decisions; it does not replace final review.
FARO SCENE
Provides office-side processing, registration, visualization, quality review, organization, and export functions for captured datasets.
Sphere XG
Provides a cloud environment for supported data access, collaboration, and connected reality-capture workflows, subject to account, license, and project controls.
Flash / Hybrid Reality Capture
Uses supported hardware, imagery, and processing to accelerate selected capture scenarios. Eligibility, licensing, deliverable fit, and site conditions must be confirmed.
Project handoff
Translates the reviewed dataset into the agreed point cloud, viewer, CAD reference, model, or other defined output for the receiving team.
Product roles are summarized from FARO’s Focus knowledge base and current product materials. Software names, availability, compatibility, and licensing change; the project agreement controls what is included.

Experience without borrowed authority.
- Team background
- LaserScanning.io is backed by the experienced team behind Certified Laser Scanning, including FARO-certified technician and training experience.
- Independence
- LaserScanning.io is an independent sister brand and is not FARO’s website, a FARO product page, or a manufacturer warranty.
- Trademark clarity
- FARO, Focus, SCENE, Sphere, Stream, and related names are trademarks or product names of FARO Technologies, Inc. and its affiliates.
- Project truth
- Scanner specifications never substitute for agreed accuracy, control, registration evidence, completeness, or fitness for the receiving workflow.
